this song has been on the radio for weeks, its not that new.

Yeah we know, but the album isn't out yet. You see it is customary to release what we call in the music world a single, or one song off of the new album that will be overplayed so much that the band hates it, and then release the album a few months later after the hype has been built up by this single.
